What is a fractional Chief AI Officer?
A senior person who does the Chief AI Officer job for several businesses, part time. You get the judgement and accountability of the role without a full-time salary.
Which AI tools do you work with?
All the main ones: Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, open models such as Mistral and Llama, and the AI already built into software you pay for. We recommend whichever tool fits. We take no referral fees from the AI suppliers we recommend, and nothing from associates. We're a Businessmap partner; we don't resell it, and we'll say so if it ever comes up in your work.
Why not just send the team on an AI course?
Do, if they need it. We run team days too. But a course teaches the tools. It doesn't decide which work AI should take, set the rules, or check it paid off. That's the job.
Do you sell a platform or a plugin?
No. We don't sell a tool, so we've no reason to steer you to one. What we build or set up for you is yours to keep, on your own accounts.
Who owns what you make for us?
You do: the policy, the routines, the plans and any code we write for you. What we keep is what we brought: our method, our templates and general routines that aren't about your business. That's how we can start quickly and keep prices down.
What happens in a month with nothing to build?
Your lead still owns the plan: checking the numbers, keeping the rules and tools current, reviewing what your suppliers add, coaching your people and finding the next hold-up. You pay for that, and for set time each month, not for a count of automations. If it stays quiet for months, we'll say so and suggest a lighter tier.
Do you guarantee results?
No, and be wary of anyone who does. Before any work starts we agree, from your own figures, what it should save or earn, and we report each quarter on what actually moved. If it isn't earning its place, you can stop on 30 days' notice after the first three months.
Do we have to use synoia?
No. Launch includes three months of synoia, and every part-time lead includes it while the retainer runs, because a shared memory makes AI far more useful. It's worth £199 a month at list, and it's one option, not a requirement. If something you already use does the job, we'll build on that instead.
Which AI assistant will you set up?
The one that fits your firm and the tools you already pay for: Claude, Microsoft Copilot or ChatGPT. We set it up on your accounts with the rules first, train your people on their own work, and measure what it saves.
Is our data safe?
Rules come before tools. The first month sets what data may go where, and every associate works to those rules. For research and builds we can work on our own private AI, so nothing goes into a public AI service. We hold Cyber Essentials Plus, the government-backed security certification.
We have fewer than 10 people. Is this for us?
Start with the two-week review. For many small firms the review and its 90-day plan are all they need.
What if it isn't working?
After the first three months, give 30 days' notice. You keep the policy, the plan and everything we built for you.
How do you charge?
Fixed-price work is half on order and half within 14 days of delivery. Reviews, team days and board sessions are paid before the date. Retainers are monthly in advance, three months minimum, then 30 days' notice. Travel is included within 50 miles of Andover. We don't discount.
